Who can participate
Playdates is a free pilot for parents and legal guardians aged 18 or older in Florida, connecting around children from birth to five. Use your own account and your first name. Do not impersonate someone else or use this area to advertise, recruit customers, solicit money, or arrange unsupervised childcare.
We do not verify people
Preschool Portal does not verify participant identities, parent or guardian status, or age, and does not conduct background checks. Introductions, account photos, friend requests, and accepted connections are not an endorsement or safety certification. Information is supplied by participants. You decide whether to communicate or meet.
What other signed-in parents can see
Your introduction includes your first name, city or community, Florida county, children’s age groups, activity interests, general availability, optional introduction, and optional adult photo. Introductions appear immediately. Ordinary introductions are not displayed to signed-out visitors or intentionally indexed by search engines. If you choose to create a public invitation link, its reviewed card and preview can be viewed without sign-in. Signing in is not identity verification, and another member could copy or screenshot what you share.
Do not include children’s names, birth dates, photographs, school or childcare locations, home addresses, contact details, private schedules, or identifying documents. Photos must show only the adult account holder, with no children or identifying background details. The photo selector creates a small thumbnail without location metadata. Remove or replace your photo in My Introduction.
Optional public invitation links
After reviewing and agreeing to share, you can create a public invitation link for Facebook. We store the reviewed card, its invitation text, and an opaque link identifier. The card can include your first name, city/county, children’s age groups, and optional adult photo. Anyone with the link, including Facebook’s preview service, can view that shared card. The link carries visitors to your introduction after sign-in; they must complete their own introduction to send a request. Chat still requires acceptance.
Stop sharing disables the link on Preschool Portal. Updating your saved introduction, deletion, or suspension also disables the old link. We cannot remove Facebook’s cached previews, screenshots, downloaded images, or other copies. A block prevents requests and chat but cannot prevent viewing an already-public invitation outside an account.
Requests, friends, and chat
The recipient chooses to accept or decline a request. Chat opens only after acceptance. Your account email is not automatically shared. Messages are text only. Exchange contact details yourself only if you both choose. Be respectful and do not send harassment, threats, sexual content, scams, discriminatory abuse, or requests for private information about children.
You can cancel a pending outgoing request, end an accepted connection, or block another parent. Blocking stops requests and chat in both directions and hides the introduction from that parent’s browsing results. Only the parent who placed a block can remove it. Unblocking resumes the previous friendship or pending request, unless the other parent has also placed a block. It does not accept a pending request. In this pilot, declined, canceled, or explicitly ended connections cannot be restarted through the site; contact support if a genuine mistake needs correction.
Meeting in person
Get acquainted before meeting. Choose a busy public location for an initial meeting, tell someone you trust your plans, and keep your child with you. Never leave a child with someone you met through this feature. You are responsible for your own child’s supervision, transport, and decisions. If someone pressures you or makes you uncomfortable, stop contact and block or report them.
Reports and moderation
Use Report on an introduction or on a received message. Your report is visible to the Preschool Portal team, not the reported person. A report saves your explanation and either the selected message or the introduction text as evidence. Reports are not monitored in real time and are not an emergency service. For immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
We may remove inappropriate introductions or suspend Playdates access. Blocking affects this feature; it cannot prevent someone from contacting you through details you shared elsewhere or using a separate account.
What we store
Wix handles your member account and sign-in. Playdates stores an internal account identifier, introduction answers, an optional thumbnail, consent date and rules version, connection requests and decisions, block records, messages, and reports. Chat contents and photographs are not added to your public provider profile or shared with other parents outside their permitted Playdates access.
Private chat is access-controlled, not end-to-end encrypted. Authorized site administrators can access stored messages and records for support and moderation. We do not promise that messages disappear after a particular number of days. This pilot displays up to 200 messages per conversation and limits request and message rates to reduce spam.
Deleting data
You can delete a shared conversation and end its connection. This deletes the stored messages for both parents, so use this option carefully. Either parent may do this. Previously submitted reports may keep a copy of reported content.
Deleting your Playdates profile removes your introduction, optional photo, and messages sent or received. It leaves your Wix account and saved items intact. Limited internal connection and block records, reports, and moderation records may remain to prevent repeat unwanted contact and review concerns. Deleted data may remain in provider backups according to their retention practices. Contact support for deletion questions or requests involving retained records.
